Thermoforming is a moulding technique which is commonly used to produce highly usable and finished products. This processes involves uniformly softening a thermoplastic sheet with air and heat, in order to manipulate its shape. While softening, the sheet can drape or sag under gravity to the shape of a mould. Forming to 2.5D to 3D Shapes.
Thermoforming holds many advantages that make it favourable over other methods of moulding. These include the ability to create several finished parts from the same material and that it is beneficial when using large parts.
Depending on the application, Peerless (along with our partner Thiatransparency) are able to offer a range of different thermoforming processes to best suit the material, product and finished environment. As such we will always discuss options and advise on what the best process suited to your specific project.
Thermoformed plastic is excellent for a range of applications, including:
- Point of sale solutions
- Light housings
- Electronic enclosures
- Safety Visors
- Medical Packaging
- Packaging Inserts
Our Peeraguard™ coatings can be applied after forming to improve the abrasion and chemical resistance of the moulding. You can feel confident in the durability and life span of our thermoformed products.
