Barbican Art Gallery
In one of our most high-profile projects to date, we were asked to provide signs and plastics for the popular Martian Museum of Terrestrial Art exhibition at the Barbican Gallery.
The brief, given to Peerless by the curators of the Barbican, involved helping to design and create the space around the exhibition — supplying signs, plastics, and coated signage.
In order to fit in with the theme of the exhibition, we went for an abstract feel, giving the plastic signs a matte finish so as not to detract from the wording and interpretation.
We applied Peeraguard 10 to seventeen bright green acrylic introductory panels and four black acrylic art category signs. The coatings were a great way of creating the desired matte effect whilst, at the same time, providing effective abrasion and chemical resistance.
The exhibition went on to become a huge hit, with the Telegraph calling it ‘one of the year’s zaniest shows.’
