Thermoforming is a moulding technique which is commonly used to produce a desired shape to a plastic product. This processes involves uniformly softening a thermoplastic sheet with air and heat, in order to manipulate its shape. While softening, the sheet can drape or sag under gravity to the shape of a mould. Forming 2.5D to 3D Shapes.
Thermoforming holds many advantages that make it favourable over other methods of moulding. The method enables maintaining high optical quality of the plastic product and it can be used for medium to large part production. In addition, thermoforming has fast tooling, and the tooling costs are low compared to injection moulding.
Depending on the application, Peerless (along with our partner Theia Transparency) are able to offer a range of different thermoforming processes to best suit the material, product and finished environment. As such our experts will always discuss options and advise on what the best process suited to your specific project.
