We were awarded 2nd Place in the Brett Martin Plastics iAwards 2020
Working with Electric Assisted Vehicles Limited we fabricated and supplied the windscreens of this innovative solution to inner city transportation issues. The EAVan is a solution aimed at reducing C02 emissions in European cities initially by targeting the last mile on deliveries however, the platform has been designed to offer tailored solutions including mobile barista stalls and snacks / sandwich refrigeration vans. These zero emissions vehicles are manufactured from recyclable materials.
We hard coated the outer side of full Marlon FS sheets with our UVHC 3000K to provide long life abrasion resistance and once cured (which cures at a higher temperature), fabricated the windscreens using a CNC router. The obscuration band (including EAV logo and light apertures) was then screen printed in-house on the uncoated inside of the windscreen, to which we then applied our PeeraGuard™ Clear hard coat over the top of the screen-print and inside of the screen to provide long life abrasion resistance here too. The windscreen was then cold formed into place on the EAVan.
This innovative application show cases the impact resistance of Marlon FS, its suitability for screen printing, cold bending and its diversity of use. Traditional glass would be too costly to form and too heavy therefore effecting the performance and range of the vehicles.
